| If you are interested in adopting one of our Schnoodle puppies please look for the Adoption Application link on the bottom of this page. We will add the link when we are accepting applications and will announce in advance the dates the link will be posted. When you click on the application link it will bring you to our application which you can fill out and just click on submit. Reviewing of applications may take up to 1 week, but we will reply to every application. However, if we receive an incomplete application it will be deleted without a reply. If we accept your application, you will be required to send a non-refundable and non-transferable $100.00 deposit by cashiers check only, this will guarantee you a place on the waiting list. Our waiting list will be small. However, we cannot guarantee you which litter you will receive a puppy from. We will be looking to match the pups temperament and personality with a families application, including preferences and placing each pup in a home we feel is perfect for them. After we have a litter, I will post information and new photos of the puppies on a Nursery Page every other week, so that the families may learn about the puppies and watch them grow....at birth, 2 weeks, 4 weeks old and the final photos just before adoption. Here is how we find the right puppy for each family........... We do personality and temperament testing. After the puppies are 6 weeks old we will do an evaluation on the pups. This is a series of tests done over several days at the most active part of the puppy's day, this gives the most accurate results. These are done to test each puppy's individual reactions, it is also known as "temperament testing". Many police departments and therapy dog training centers are doing very similar tests. Some of the tests consist of noise acceptance, surprise reactions, tolerance abilities, and basic reactions to new situations. We also observe the puppies over the first 5 weeks to see their reactions to one another and to notice their interactions with people. Why do we test? To get a good idea what kind of environment each puppy will thrive in; this helps us find the right home for each puppy's personality. When most people go to a breeder to adopt a puppy they do not get to see the puppy's true personality, they usually see a tired or sleeping puppy because they have a short active or play time at this young age. When we do testing it is done at the most active time of the puppy's day giving us accurate personality results. When the puppies are around 6 weeks old I will be conducting our final temperament test on each puppy. When I am confident of the results I will post a photo of each puppy and a description of their personality and what kind of home would best fit the puppy. The posting will include an identifying number given to each puppy for the adoption purpose. Only people on our waiting list will be eligible to choose a puppy. When the puppies are posted we I will post a "submit" button on the puppy page. This will be the offical request form. Each family may fill out one of these forms if they are interested in one or more of the puppies. The request form will allow each family to tell me which of the puppies they would be happy to adopt. The request form will have a place for your name or e-mail address. There will be a box next to each puppy that you can check if you would be interested in adopting that particular puppy. I would also like all families to make a point of expressing to your children that ANY of the puppies you request would be wonderful...You will not be able to put them in any special order.. We don't want anyone feeling like they are settling with their third choice. In other words, when you request your puppy don't do it with this in mind, "okay we want #3 but if we can't get that one, then #2 and if nothing else we will accept #5...DO NOT do that. All puppies you choose must be one's that would make your family perfectly happy. All puppies must be on the same level or do not request their adoption. Important: While one puppy may receive many request for their adoption and others may not receive any requests. In almost every case, you will not be the only one requesting the adoption of an individual puppy. Obviously only one family can receive the puppy. Please keep this in mind and make it clear to the children in the family, and yourself. Please keep all hopes down low until you know for sure. I will take all the request for each puppy and go over those applications carefully to decide which of the applicants is the best home for the puppy. Because you request the adoption of a particular puppy, or even several puppies, this does NOT mean that you will receive a puppy out of this litter. We have more people then puppies on our waiting list and only so many pups. Though this may be hard to understand...puppies/dogs will thrive better in an environment that matches their personality...we look at their personality and what your home environment and family has to offer this puppy's personality. What we are looking for is a home in which each of our puppy's will thrive. Would you want anything less? If there is a puppy that does not receive requests for an adoption or the right home is not found out of the applicants who request the adoption, we will open the application link so others may submit their application for the adoption of that puppy until we do find the best home. Viewing of the puppies is done by the web site. We cannot show the puppies, because of disease concerns, until they are vaccinated which is done at 6 weeks old and then we give 3 to 4 days for the vaccine to start to build the puppies immunity and to be certain the puppies handled the vaccinations well. It is my responsiblity to provide my puppies with a safe enviroment in which to thrive. We will be placing our puppies in their adoptive homes between 7 and 8 weeks old. It is illegal in Pennsylvania to sell or give away a puppy under the age of 7 weeks. We will set the pick up date for the litter soon after the puppies are born, with hope that the prospective families will keep the date available. We set one day as the pick up date and a schedule will be made so each family has their set time, usually 45 minutes, in which to have time to meet their puppy, receive information, ask questions and go over the puppy kit...including health records, stuffed animal, toys, puppy food and the guarantee/contract. It will usually be a Saturday, as we want our puppies to go to their new families and spend the weekend getting to know each other. The pick up time will be in the morning or early afternoon, because it is easier for the pups to adjust to their first night at their new house, or a long day of traveling to get to their new home. A Saturday pick up also helps for those traveling a long distance to pick up their Schnoodle puppy Due to the increase in gas prices, delivery fee's will be discussed at that time if it is something you will be needing. We do not ship our puppies. However, we do allow the puppies to fly under a passengers seat. The passenger must supply the appropriate kennel for the puppy to travel in. All airline travel requires a valid health certificate. This certificate is an additional $50. We have no problem with almost any length of car ride as long as there is time allowed for potty and play breaks, every two hours. When taking a long trip with a puppy, use the potty and play breaks to become acquainted with your puppy, this is a great bonding experience. For car trips over 2 hours long a small travel kennel should be used for the puppy's comfort. We recommend holding your puppy on the way home if your trip is less then 2 hours long, as this is a bonding time also. Important Information Just to be clear...because you send in an application does not mean that it will be "accepted" and added to the waiting list. On average, we "deny" at least half of the applications we receive. After sending the deposit, should you decide not to adopt a Schnoodle puppy, you will forfeit your deposit. Remember, the reason for the deposit is to show your commitment to one of our schnoodle puppies, if you change your mind the loss of your deposit is your penalty. Please think about it and talk it over with everyone involved BEFORE submitting an application. The adoption fee of $750.00, minus your $100.00 deposit, leaves $650.00 due in the form of a cashiers check or cash at the time you pick up the puppy. Cashiers check or cash only...absolutely no exceptions! Remember the more you require of your puppy's appearance or gender, the more difficulty we will have finding the right puppy. The more difficulty, the longer the wait. We do offer some delivery for a flat fee of $50 + $.??? (see note above) a mile. Mileage distance based on Mapquest driving directions (traveling in one direction). If you are interested in a delivery please let us know at the time of application and at the time of requests. These procedures may sound very strict, and they are! I owe my best effort to my puppies and to the people who trust me to help them with their new family member. The puppy and your family's happiness is my ultimate goal. Thank you and I promise to do my best in providing you with a great pet!! |
